Sam Wilson
Intern
I’m Sam Wilson, a senior at California University of Pennsylvania majoring in psychology with a minor in social work. I will graduate in December 2026 and plan to pursue my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling as I continue my path toward becoming a therapist. Outside of academics, movement is one of the ways I stay grounded. I’m a group fitness instructor and captain of the university's women’s rugby team, and I find joy in spending time with the people I love. I also carry a creative thread from years spent in performing and visual arts.
Life moves in seasons; some heavy, some liberating, each carrying its own quiet beauty. None last forever. The leaves will change, the sun will rise, and there is always room to begin again. My experiences with these rhythms shaped my belief that healing unfolds when we honor every part of ourselves and allow space for growth and self‑compassion.
I’m passionate about trauma‑informed care, mind–body integration, and exploring how people create meaning and develop resilience in the aftermath of adversity. My research has centered on emotional regulation, visual mental imagery, the accessibility of mobility aids for individuals with physical limitations, LGBT affirming performing arts, and global human identification. This work has deepened my appreciation for the complexity of human experience and the creativity we use to navigate challenges. During my internship at The Village, I’m excited to develop my skills in both individual and group work, and to grow within a community that values compassionate care. Authenticity and collaboration are important values to me.
